Hockey Stick Sizing and Flex Guide

Use this guide as a starting point. Skating posture, position, shooting mechanics, strength, and personal preference all influence the right setup.

Player category

Youth

The lightest and shortest configurations for young players.

Junior

Smaller shaft geometry and lower flex options for growing players.

Intermediate

A transition between Junior and Senior dimensions.

Senior

Adult shaft dimensions and higher flex ranges.

Goalie

Separate paddle-length and pattern specifications.

Length

Shorter setupMore puck control

Often favors close handling and a lower stance.

Longer setupMore reach

Can extend reach and support a more upright stance.

With skates on, many players begin near chin height; without skates, that is often near nose height. Cutting a composite shaft makes it feel stiffer.

Flex

Starting flex≈ ½ body weight (lb)

This is only a common starting point. Adjust for mechanics and preference. Younger or developing players should be able to load the shaft safely and consistently.

Blade pattern

Pattern affects lie, curve, face angle, puck control, and release. Choose from the options shown for each model and ask us if you need help comparing patterns.

Not sure which setup fits?

Send us the player's height, weight, position, current stick specifications, and what they would like to change.
